First time commenter, wanted to let you guys know how much I enjoy your podcast thus far.

I really enjoyed the "breaking in" interview this episode, it was very informative. I myself am an aspiring game designer/programmer and my break-in strategy thus far has been participating in Google summer of code (to produce a Risk ruleset for the Thousand Parsec project) and creating a blog. GSoC has been an excellent opportunity to hone my skills and get a feel for larger-scale programming for some one as inexperienced as myself. Not only that, I get to work with many individuals much more skilled than myself. In fact, my very mentor is a senior at Digipen, and his expertise and advice has surely helped me outside of GSoC in advancing my skills.
To sum up, GSoC is an excellent opportunity to work with skilled developers on larger projects.

PS. Podcast did sound bit better this week :P

One thing I noticed that was missing from the interview (and this is always missing from interviews about getting into the industry): There never any point of contact suggestions.

I don't expect someone to say: If you want a job call Ken Levine at Take-Two interactive.

Books are a good start and thanks for those references. However, how about providing a list of known consulting agencies and developers sorted by country, state.

Get us some example documents. Google is great, but it's hard to find a really good example of design documents for games online (and probably for good reason).

I would love to see how a game is written (script). It would be nice to see a couple of the formats that are popular in the industry that can convey the gameplay elements through the written storytelling.

Provide a list of colleges that provide recognized industry credentials.

The interview was great, but it wasn't any more informative than the ones I have heard in the past. I have debated on trying to get my foot in the door, but when you have a secure job position that pays pretty well, you tend to not try to do anything too risky :-). Maybe some day I'll be brave enough to venture into the unknown. I'll be the first 65-year-old tester working on projects for the Nintendo Geezer (it hasn't been announced, but I feel it'll be coming!).

Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks for another enjoyable podcast!

Thanks for another great podcast! I'm currently a software tester for my local government but it can get a little dry. It's refreshing to hear about how testing works in the gaming world!

Hey guys, great show. I just wanted to make a clarification before the XNA/GS guys flip out: "XNA" is a brand, "XNA Game Studio" is the product you're suggesting budding game creators/testers use. Most people simply say "XNA" to refer to "XNA Game Studio", and frankly it's understandable, since XNA GS was the first XNA-branded product to hit the public spotlight and we didn't really know what else there was at the time.

Happy 4th of July guys.
I really enjoyed the show. Your gamertag idea sounds good. Keep up the good work.

PS: Thank you for doing something about the Ninja Gaiden 2 glitches. It got patched very fast and I am sure that you & the team at the Gamerscore Blog had something with it.
Thanks again.
