It’s only Justin and John this week. We bid farewell to our trusty geezer, Jeff Kafer. Who not only was a great co-host, but also an audio engineer. His prowess on the boards made it easy for Justin and I to not think about what a lot of hard work it is to edit the show–which is why it has taken us so long to get this one up. I have completely edited this podcast twice, thanks to Audacity deciding to eat the first one. So bear with us!
- A fond farewell to Jeff Kafer
- The games we’re currently playing: Mirror’s Edge, Burnout Paradise, Tales of Vesperia, Halo Wars, Final Fantasy IV DS
- Interview with Greg Murphy, Design Director @ Microsoft Game Studios
- Tips & Tricks interview with Kevin Bowen & John Mogensen of the Halo Wars Test Team.
- We forgot to record a proper outro! But there is music!

Hooray for new show, time to listen!
Sweet I’ll listen to it at work tomorrow, can’t wait.
My only question is week right now is, who has been playing Halo Wars for up to 5000 minutes. 5000 minutes!! Now that’s what I call dedication.
Can’t wait to hear the show.
Later
Greatings from Portugal, great show and good that I have Jeff on my friends list. Then I don´t have to say goodbye to him
Keep up the nice work
Take care You all.
See we got it up on Monday!
lol, Tuesday in the UK, but don’t sweat it
Thanks guys for the hard work, d/loading now!
wo0tness!
I really enjoyed the interview. Awesome comments and insight. I never thought about psychology.
Best of luck to Kafer!
So long Jeff. So long Hot Pocket. We hardly knew the both of you.
heh, Greg reminded me of Joe Staten. Next time he is on, you HAVE to get him to try to do a grunt voice. I want to know
Great show guys, really good job. I loved the into and outro music for Greg’s interview – what was that?
Well played, that man.
As an SE i would like to hear more technical discusion
What do you mean Greg?
Hey Guys, I’m glad you’re back. I enjoy the show and wanted to give a few suggestions. Don’t hate me for what I’m about to say:
The show is a bit to long and needs to be more focused. Podcasts are made for the person on the go, so a over the hour show is just to long. Try taking a few breaks, commercials or just a jingle to end a topic and move on. I found that the breathing in the mic was very distracting.
Great job men. I know getting this one up and running was a bit of a chore, but it really was worth it. I loved Kafer, and this is no knock on him, but I honestly think that this was the best show yet. Since tecben is putting his two cents in, I’ll share mine. Personally, I like my podcasts to be at least an hour..past two is a bit much but somewhere in there. I’m sure I’m missing some information that would prove I’m wrong, but if there was a pool going, I’d bet Greg Murphy is working on Crackdown 2 – (Electric Boogaloo). Great show again. I do hope it is more regular, but frankly, I’m just glad it is there.
Take care, Squadfather.
I think you could turn Greg Murphy’s repetition of the word “right” into a great drinking game! I’d be wasted after 10 minutes! Seriously though, great show, sorry to hear about Jeff, and podcasts are meant to be as long as the hosts wants them to be! The point of podcasts is they’re recorded and FREE, so you can pause and come back to them at any time. So keep them coming, the longer the better!
I personally don’t mind a long podcast, I listen to them while I’m at work and it makes the time go by a little bit easier. This podcast wasn’t that long anyway. You wanna hear a long podcast, give Talkradar a whirl, if i remember right there longest podcast lasted close to 3 hrs and 30 minutes.
Anyway great show guys keep it up
Sad that Jeff is gone, but abandoning the hot pocket meme is a bit of a consolation..that went on for far too long.
Second the motion for more technical content. For example, listen to your podcasts on Fable II or Crackdown.
I agree that after a delayed releases it is perfectly fine to have a over the hour show. But I was only suggesting that when the show is more routine that it “try” to stay around a hour. If you listen to a dozen or so podcast it is hard to play catch-up.
First off, the music was great! Keep all the music, it’s awesome! Also, make the podcast as long as you want them! I prefer longer because I listen to them while I do my homework, but it really doesn’t matter as long as you make more podcast more often!
Any Hints on what the next show is going to have, Me personally I hope you talk to some artists in games, graphic designers, stuff like that.
