#026 – Splosion Cast

Posted by jaynoon on August 18, 2009 – 4:05 pm
We talk about plenty of stuff other than Splosion Man this week, but John goes on and on about it, so it’s the SPLOSION CAST! CAAAAKE!
On the Show:
Seattle Heat Wave!
Chris’ crazy collectin’
Splosion Man
Gears of War 2 – All Fronts DLC
Mailbag!
“Are there too many multiplayer games?”
“Should developers push to get multiplayer into games that are primarily single player?”
“Is a one console future possible with fanboys, competition, and the Big 3?”
“Can the industry survive with so many AAA titles? Is there enough money for them all?”
A pattern of Holiday delays. We talk about stuff we’re still eager for, John mentions Dark Void, which is then delayed days later..

Just finished the show. Great job guys, it’s been very informative. I racked my brain to come up with a few questions.

Did any of you get a chance to go to Gamescom. What are your impressions of everything announced so far, or just the convention in general.

My other question deals with the summer of arcade. All the games coming out have so far been excellent, I’m still waiting to get my hands on Shadow Complex, so do you think these games have set a new bar for quality and hand 1200 points become the new price for a high quality game.

Just curious Thanks guys, can’t wait for the next show!

Thanks for the load of information in this show, it was really great to listen to and I learned a lot. Really appreciate the time that you guys take to record this podcast.
Can’t wait for the next one and btw, did you guys see the Avatar Preview?
What do you guys expect for 3D games at home (Avatar, the videogame, offers stereoscopic 3D in the game so you have a bit of 3D as in the movie)?

What i mean with the 3D question btw is, do you guys think it will set a new standard, will it offer something new and more exciting, giving the gamers a new experience or will it remain a gimmick and will it die soon? (I can only imagine what it will be with Project Natal, speaking of which, there is soon a movie coming called Gamer which seems to look partially what Project Natal is, atleast the control part looks a lot like it)

Keep up the great shows please :) .

Hello gang ;-) and as allways Hello from Portugal!
I have some questions for the “fantastic 3″ :D

1- Why does Microsoft doesn’t force publishers to put localized subtitles in their games? (In every language LIVE exists)
2- Does Microsoft, eventualy, will allow the 360 community to translate a game, for free, in diferent languages, and maybe give that localized work for free via LIVE to everyone?
3- As testers, did you get any trouble testing a game that was not in English? Maybe a pre-game in a diferent language that didn’t saw the light of day?

Take care and thanks for the show :D

    Ohh last question:

How to make a new born become a platform biased member and a geek for games? (This one is for Chris hahahhahahaha)

    For Turn 10:

Why the search for simulation junkies (like me :D ) and that view from the cockpit. All instruments from the dash are covered by the wheel ! ?
Is it because you wanted to make the game run at 60fps and the only way to do so was the “grandmother cockpit view” ?
And what happened to the textures inside the car? They are really poor!
Can you fix this 2 things with an update?
Don’t get me wrong ! The game is great, from the Demo I can tell that’s a must have !
But really ! ? That cockpit view is not ok.

    Take care and as allways:
Hello from Portugal and sorry for any typing errors ;-)

Building off of Assassin Monk’s questions about different languages: Does the Microsoft team help translate games for other regions? And do you have testers that make sure the dialouge is correct in various languages?

I believe a two weeks ago Chris Chamberlain twittered that they were recording a new show so they are probably finishing the show right now I guess :) . Sometimes it takes a little while but they are allways worth listening to.
They are busy these days so that it takes a bit more time then usual is understandable.

We have 3 and 1/2 shows recorded and Joris is right that things have been super busy. John is going to edit several of the older ones and get them up soon. The first 2 shows wrap up the summer of arcade and the third show has a great interview with one of the Forza 3 testers, Dan Tunnell. On the half show that we have recorded, we have another great interview (not telling who yet) and another surprise coming up for that show. Stay tuned! ; )
