Hosts:

  • Chris Chamberlain
  • Eric Helbig
  • Charles Porter
  • Greg Hjertager

And Show 72 comes in, guns blazing! With the release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary having happened a few weeks ago we thought it appropriate to have the Test Lead, Eric Helbig, onto the show for a little debriefing. We grilled him about what his job is, his experiences in the games industry, and, more importantly, what it was like working on Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. We also did our standard chit chat about the current games we are playing and what DLC, Demos, and XBLA releases have come out.

Games and topics discussed this episode:

  • Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
  • Gears 3 DLC2 – Raam’s Shadow
  • Gears 3 Free Booster Map Pack
  • WP7 The Oregon Trail
  • WP7 Enigmo
  • Resident Evil 4
  • Battle Stuff
  • Monster Madness
  • Dead Rising 2: Off the Record
  • League of Legends
  • CastleVille
  • Bioshock 2

GREAT show guys!! I am really enjoying the interviews with your fellow MS employees, and hearing their game test experience (hopefully an interview with Ken Lobb will appear!). Hearing the Halo Anniversary stuff is great… I played #1 & 2 on xbox, and I am playing #2 again on PC (for achievos of course!! :) )
I have a question, not exaclty test related, probably more production, but maybe you guys have an idea: usually a game has a dev, who is technically and artistically driving the project start to finish. In the case of Anniversary, though, the art side was done, and the original dev had moved on… so how did Saber get involved? Was there like an interview or tender process? Its interesting, because Saber have basically only made one 360 retail title (the underrated Timeshift) so how did they get on board?
